TRANSPARENCY COMMITMENT

The UPUA by its mission and authority recognizes the necessity of open and transparent proceedings and records. As such the UPUA Assembly strives to fully disclose all relevant discussions, decisions, and documents pertaining to the student body to ensure that all students can monitor and have access to their student government and ensure that the UPUA Assembly is accountable to those we represent….the undergraduate student body of University Park.

The UPUA is required to hold all meeting open and advertised in advance as well as publish minutes and legislation (See Assembly Bylaws §§ 2.3.5, §4.10, and Constitution §§ 8.1.4). If there are questions or problems please contact UPUA Secretary Annie Fiscus [alf5143@psu.edu]

LEGISLATION

According to §5.3 of the UPUA Constitution the primary work of the Assembly is to render written decisions or legislation. Acts are thus defined as written forms of business and require at minimum a majority vote by the UPUA Assembly and signature of the UPUA President (or 2/3s override) to take effect and constitute the binding opinion of the student body.

1. A Resolution is any legislation that deals with rendering an opinion that may contain spending
provisions. Resolutions shall be formatted based upon Appendix A of the Assembly Bylaws and require a majority of those present and voting to pass.
